Cerebral Palsy and The Different Effects Associated.

Cerebral palsy (CP) is a group of neurological disorders that affect movement, posture, and muscle coordination. It is caused by damage to the developing brain, usually before or during birth, or in the first few years of life.

There are several types of cerebral palsy, ranging from mild to severe. The types are classified based on the type of movement disorder and the part of the body that is affected. Here are some of the common types of cerebral palsy:

  1. Spastic cerebral palsy: This is the most common type of cerebral palsy, accounting for about 80% of cases. It causes stiffness and tightness in the muscles, making movement difficult. There are different subtypes of spastic cerebral palsy, depending on which limbs are affected.

  2. Dyskinetic cerebral palsy: This type of cerebral palsy affects the control of movement and causes involuntary movements, such as writhing, twisting, or jerking. It can also affect the muscles used for speech, swallowing, and breathing.

  3. Ataxic cerebral palsy: This type of cerebral palsy affects balance and coordination, making movements appear unsteady or shaky. It can also affect fine motor skills, such as writing or buttoning clothes.

  4. Mixed cerebral palsy: This type of cerebral palsy involves a combination of symptoms from two or more of the other types of cerebral palsy.

The severity of cerebral palsy can also vary, ranging from mild to severe. Mild cerebral palsy may involve only slight muscle weakness or coordination difficulties, while severe cerebral palsy may involve complete paralysis, intellectual disability, and multiple other health issues. The severity of cerebral palsy can be evaluated using a variety of tests, including the Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS), which measures a child's ability to perform gross motor skills, such as sitting, standing, and walking. Cerebral Palsy is one of the many disabilities that VoiceGenius was designed for. VoiceGenius has two major communication platforms built in, including image to speech processing and text to speech processing. Take a look at our website and sign up to give it a try.
